New Technique Learned

Hey everyone!

So, as I was looking around on the internet for a project to do, my husband decided he wanted me to make him a beanie.  Delighted that he actually wanted me to make him something, I went straight to YouTube to find a tutorial to follow ( I'm still not all that great at reading patterns yet).  I found one that looked easy enough for me to follow and looked good.

My husband had already picked out the yarn he wanted the beanie to be made out of, Red Heart Camo!  That is going to make an awesome beanie! I wish I could say that I finished the beanie, but my hubby said he doesn't want it to be a slouchy hat, so I have to find a new pattern.  But on the bright side, I did learn a new technique, back stitch single crochet! I also started a huge blanket and applied this it by doing a back stitch half double crochet and its looks pretty good.

Eventually I am going to finish this beanie, but in a color of my choosing, because I do love the look of the slouchy beanie!  As for my hubbys' beanie, I found another tutorial that he likes the look of...of course I had to learn how to do the magic circle, and another technique of front post double crochet! But, unfortunately with the back in the yarn and me making my stitches WAY to tight, I'm having a very hard time with it (pictures will be up soon).

A few key things that I must work on: my tension and gauging! For the life of me I cant seem to get my tension right, its always to tight. But if I let the yarn slack a little bit, it falls off of my finger.

I used an H size hook and Red Heart worsted 4 yarn.
